Advent Season 2025

About the Study

Advent is a sacred season of anticipation and preparation observed during the four weeks leading up to Christmas. The word Advent comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “coming” or “arrival.” For Christians around the world, Advent invites us to pause, reflect, and ready our hearts for the coming of Jesus Christ—both His birth in Bethlehem and His promised return.

Each week of Advent highlights a spiritual theme that helps guide our focus:

  • Hope – remembering God’s promises and placing our trust in His faithfulness.
  • Peace – receiving the deep, abiding peace that Christ brings.
  • Joy – celebrating the joy of salvation and the presence of God with us.
  • Love – reflecting on the immeasurable love of God shown through Jesus.

The Advent wreath, traditionally holding four outer candles and one central Christ candle, symbolizes this spiritual journey. As each candle is lit week by week, its growing light reminds us that Christ, the Light of the World, is drawing near.

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas; it is a season of intentional worship, spiritual renewal, and joyful expectation. It invites us to slow down, listen for God’s voice, and make room for the miracle of Christ’s coming—past, present, and future.
